  5. Your images of this area are really great examples of what a perceptive mind and a well tuned eye can see even where “there is nothing to shoot”. Well done, Charles.
    I find another interest here also, what made it this way? Is this simply an example of the soil errosion caused by deforestation? If so, would proper forest management have provided a harvest of timber and a sustained woodland for the next few generations?
    Or is there some other factor involved in what appears to be complete devastation of an extensive bit of landscape? What is its history, and what is its future?

Hey Ron, as far as I know,” land clearing and livestock grazing in the early 1900s caused the erosion of the underlying red shale, leaving this hummocky network of exposed trenched gullies on the lower slopes of the Niagara Escarpment”. This area is now part of the Bruce Trail Park and serves as a tourist and educational attraction.
