Isn’t the inclination to “watch a stream go by” as universal as staring into an open fire? It seems to me, in “Stream of Consciousness”, you’re dealing with some pretty elemental concepts; and I find it very interesting. Am I reading too much into the image .. once again.
During a long life, I’ve had the opportunity to stare into many fires, alone or with a wide range of companions, and I’ve seen a lot of streams go by. Usually the chosen stream was a simpler one than the one you chose. It bothered me at first that your composition simply contained too much in order to get the feeling for which I might have looked; a little cluttered, perhaps. Then I realized, my concept is not necessarily the one you were trying to express.
If I had taken the shot, it would have been shown as just another stream as shown somewhere between May and September on any free calender
When we consider the vagaries of life that are spelled out by the flames or the ripples we stare at during moments of contemplation; the stones and obstacles, that clutter your composition, have a very definite place in the image.
Am I seeing things that are not there?
In any case, for what it’s worth, I like it.
